Hadn't thought about it in regard to re-purposing material. Having it in separate panels digitally could open up a lot of possibilities. I often think about rewriting one of my many unpublished stories, but I always figured that I'd have to go crazy with scissors on them.

I'm so new to this. I'm so used to doing single illustrations it got frustrating to me to finish one page and have one panel just not capture the movement in the original drawing, or I would get hung up on one panel and destroy the board with a bunch of other good panels on it, trying to make it work. But by doing them modularly I can replace just the one panel again and again until I get it just right without disturbing the rest of the page.

Sure you don't have a finished penciled page, but you have a set of individual drawings.

You don't have to scan them in one panel at a time. You can scan an entire page and crop around the panels, saving each as a separate file to be imported into a separate layer of your psd. It's easier to position and edit them that way.

Sure either way works. You have to crop around each panel either way. While scanning each panel or each panel from a single page scan. You will still have to copy/paste/or drag each panel into the final layered PS page, from either one scan or multiple, the same number of times.

I do have a letter size scanner, but I've never had a problem just making 8.5 x 11 copies at the copy shop and scanning those. This sounds really interesting, guys, I have an old story I may try rewriting and re-assembling using the method. Give that work at least a chance to finally make me some money. Good ideas!

I just scan in really big, 300 to 600, then use the crop tool. The only reason why I had to scan in so many pieces this time was cause I was using a shitty kodak all in-one and there's no room to manuever the page which is why you get that nasty shadow burn. You can't just life the lid and feed the sheet through. It's annoying. I really need to plug in my mustek, but tell you what with that? Allen was right, the software with it is crap. Also I don't like the scans I get from the mustek, they're blurry. I swear my old HP Scanjet made better scans.

The thing I'm looking at getting now is at Office Depot. They got all in ones there, but they scan and print 11 x 17 duplex! So I might go that route and get to making me some mini's and magazine sized comics!! Or at least mock ups, then take the proofs to Kinko's for a larger print run.
I think the all-in-one's I'm talking about are "brother" brand and run like 200-399. If I find a link, I'll paste it here.

No, I'm just getting a printer. Staples has an Epson something-or-other. I don't like inkjets, but a tabloid sized color laser is just too expensive. Not a fan of all-in-ones, and I'm happy with my Mustek 1200. Although Mustek did just put out a 2400dpi model, which is also very affordable.

Swarmed up to my ears with school and family stuff. This sunday if I haven't finished the page, then I'm gonna have to bow out. If i can finish the page, I hope that's still enough time for Allen and Joe to do their things.

Don't worry about me, I only need a day or so with the files. I'm still working on my solo entry too. I wrote my script a few weeks ago. Planned to be done by now, but then my wife was in the hospital. Major surgery. But things are settling down a bit finally and I have a design project I need to work on today, so I won't be starting my page until tomorrow at the earliest. Should be done in plenty of time to do the lettering for the group page.

I don't get it, if you don't "bow out" you're worried there might not be time for the inking and the lettering. But, if you do "bow out" how would there be time to get a new penciller, have him "do his thing" then have time left for the inking and lettering? I don't see that "bowing out" solves anything, it just makes matters worse, this late in the game. Yeah, I don't see any other option here. No sir. You're gonna have to just suck it up, be a man, and do it.
