My exact words were, "learned to draw by tracing John Byrne comics." When exactly do you suppose this would have taken place? Last month? Last year? Ten years ago? I was OBVIOUSLY referring to Larsen's formative period in his teen years. If you can find where I stated he has traced from Byrne in any of his published works, please produce that quote. That argument was fabricated entirely by you and Weemie, likely in an attempt to compensate for some personal issues.
And then we're back to the traffic story. Just a matter of time, I suppose. Once more, it was just an old man standing on a street corner trolling for young studs. I confronted him the same as I confronted others who were shouting rude things at women, blaring their rap music in convenience store parking lots, soliciting in unauthorized areas, etc.

If it was so obvious, no one would have taken issue with you saying it. If they a) knew how to read; and b) didn't have some personal beef against me.

Allen's version of Joe's skull is pretty interesting. Yes, it uses the tracing as a starting point, but then it goes off in multiple ways and becomes its own creation, with a lot of Allen's own ideas and his own knowledge put into it.
So if this is what Allen calls tracing, then maybe his accusations against Erik Larsen make more sense. (Leaving aside the issue of whether Allen was accusing Larsen of current or past tracing, since that's probably unresolvable at this point.) All of our definitions of words need to be re-examined, perhaps.
Just another nutty misunderstanding?

What I did here is the opposite of what Larsen did in his formative period. I took someone else's actual drawing and re-interpreted it into my style. Larsen tried to copy Byrne's style exactly, in [perhaps] original drawings.

They're both tracing, but with different goals and methods.

Just another nutty misunderstanding? Apparently that's the way Allen likes it. He likes to say I or others, have "some personal beef," against him. But which came first, the chicken or the egg? I didn't come here to comicon with a personal "beef" against him. I didn't know him before here. Other than what he posts here, I don't know him. Like many of the arguments, I and others have had with him. If he had clearly posted the same REASONABLE statement in the begining as he does at the end, there would have not been an argument. If he had originally said that he suspected Erik Larsen traced John Byrne's work when he was younger, as a learning tool I guarantee you no one would have argued with him for days on end, in several threads. No one would have a "beef" with him. But that's not what happened was it, somehow several people argued with him, demanding he show evidence, some sort of facts to back up such an accusation. An accusation that he now portrays as a perfectly rational, and largely harmless statement, no one would have argued about. But why then were so many people willing to argue with him for so long about it?
