The Dude story is indeed hilarious. Even if he'd never improved as an artist and he'd never applied those cajones to anything else, that would still be a cool wannabe comics artist story to tell for the rest of his life. "Then after I told Shooter what a blind fool he was, I bullshitted my way down to Denny O'Neil and..."

I bet he has tons more of those stories. He should write a book. Next thing you know it's a sitcom... No more money issues.

Regardless of rights or wrongs of the dog that did bark in the night, why on earth would anybody other than close friends or family feel like helping out with his bail money??

When we all chipped in to bail Sonderstad out of the pokie when he went around the bend it was for the good. He's been well behaved ever since.

He wasn't asking people to donate bail money. He was having a special sale of his art, the proceeds of which would be used for bail.

Wasn't that night the basis for "The Hangover"

Read the JBF thread. The third poster makes the observation that "Steve Rude has used the comic industry like an ATM." I hadn't thought about it before, as Rude's art has merely been a mild like for me, but I'm starting to see some validity to that observation.

I'd love to read a big book of Jim Shooter stories like that. The Vinnie Colletta bit at the top was great.

John Byrne also does a great job as rancoteur, dishing dirt and everything, I'd love to read his memoirs as well.
