Hell, I still have some of my old toys in storage. Shogun Warriors (both HUGE sized plastic versions & diecast metal versions), Micronauts (I later acquired some of the original Japanese Microman figures!), Masters of the Universe, Slime (buckets are all that's left, of course!), Battlestar Galactica

My older brother still has quite a collection (some that I recall him allowing me to play with as a kid), including Mego action figures, Captain Action figures, G.I. Joes (with Kung Fu Grip!), an Evel Knievel Stunt Cycle...

Sheesh! I could go on & on!

These days I still collect some toys. Mainly Godzilla-related (and yes, I have an action figure of the character from my avatar), although a couple of years ago I went out of my way to purchase some action figures (6 from a line called Legendary Comic Book Heroes) that came with parts to form a HUGE (12"...I think) Pitt figure (Dale Keown's creator owned character).

All the old Silver Age stuff is a guilty pleasure for me.

Clearly, the Superman and Flash comics of the 1950s and the Fantastic Four and Spider-Man comics of the 1960s were aimed at young audiences -- children and adolescents. These were not brilliant or deep stories.

But -- they're fun, and much of the artwork is lovely. It's a pleasant retreat from adult problems, sitting there on the toilet and enjoying a full-color reprint collection of, say, THE MIGHTY THOR, by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby.

Yeah Lawson, (hullo everyone, btw...been away from the board for a few years;)

The Silver Age stuff, while nowhere as heady as the 80s Swamp Thing or Miracleman, still satisfies. I just picked up the first half of Godland's run for $3.50 dollars yesterday, and am immensely enjoying the bright colors and 'extreme' Scioli artwork--it beckons us back to the 60s stories.

Plus, work from artists such as Romita Sr, Jim Aparo and Steranko are easily found in massive quantities, whereas those folks are either mostly inactive or deceased.

Good to be back

Heath

Not a guilty pleasure, but a Marvel miniseries that is different from what I usually read: SIX GUNS was fantastic!
