Not sure, really, that it is being grumpy as much as making known what he would or wouldn't do. If someone offered to pay me to do something I couldn't or didn't want to do, I'd say no.

I actually thought Byrne was almost gracious in that thread. He even used the word "Sorry" in one response. Given that he's a known inflexible tight-ass who hates to be taken out of his comfort zone, he was willing to consider some of the ideas brought up. And he closed the thread because he could see that it was leading him down a path he didn't want to go on, so it was better just to stop there. So he ended up not having to snap at anybody.
Is there a place somewhere where he has clearly defined rules end specs for the commissions? People wouldn't have to go a "whittling" he could just refer them to the rules and specs.
Was there a reason he wouldn't do Mr. Pedretti's "Marvel or DC characters, but with a costume design of [his] own," request? I mean he's willing to make money off a commission of characters owned by Marvel and DC but he wouldn't alter the costumes, is there some legal reason for that?
