LOL! I'm ecstatic about the Godzilla stuff being published by IDW. The interiors of the first issues of the main title, though...not so much. The artwork is "OK", but I say bring back Herb Trimpe!

And keeping with the thread subject, I recall JB mentioning...WAY back when IDW first announced that they were taking over the comic book "adventures" of Godzilla...that he would be interested in doing a story (or stories?). I hope that happens!

That would be very cool. I was a huge fan of both his Godzilla AND Shogun Warriors, (as well as most everything he drew, but those were some great giant monster comics).

I sure would love to see Mr. Trimpe doing some more Godzilla!

Ah, Shogun Warriors! What a fun comic book! The epilogue story published in an issue of Fantastic Four was a travesty!

I didn't like Shogun Warriors at all so why did I buy every issue? I didn't like Herb Trimpe's art either as it was far too stiff but I liked it on Godzilla and obviously, the Hulk but only up to about issue 165 ish when Sal Trapani was inking him. After that, it was far too stiff by and large.

Oh yeah, and didn't they do a Red Ronin (the Giant Robot from Marvel's Godzilla) issue in the Avengers?

What is with the anatomy and perspective. Is Thor normally taller than God? Is Cap usually deformed?

That one was actually pretty good. It had pencils by George Perez IIRC. I don't remember how that story ended, though. Was Red Ronin destroyed? If not, they should bring him back, but this time controlled in a benevolent fashion (a bag guy was cointrolling him in that issue of Avengers).

Looks like he's still around. I just checked Wikipedia...

"Red Ronin has since "joined" the Thunderbolts during the Civil War series."

Then, "In the limited series titled The Loners, readers are introduced to a character known only as Namie," blah, blah, blah... "Namie, who is revealed to be the new Red Ronin UJ1-DX model and a cyborg"

And "A version of the classic Red Ronin appears in issue 2 of Dark Reign: Zodiac"

There's more here...

The JB era of Avengers was really good for art. I don't remember a single story but remember very clearly that I thought the art kicked considerable ass. (I am thinking it was around 1979 or so)
