I need to see "The Skin I Live In." Looks like my type of horror movie. I want to see Drive but after seeing Carey Mulligan's performance in Shame I don't want to see anything with her in it.

For me:

1)Take Me Home Tonight
2)Thor
3)x-Men First Class
and that's it.

From the list at Wikipedia ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2011_in_film ), I've only seen 7 movies with a 2011 release date:

The Green Hornet - Enjoyed.
The Adjustment Bureau - Eh, it was alright.
Paul - Haven't finished, religious chick is arguing with Paul.
Sucker Punch - I liked both the visuals and the story.
Super - I like this movie. It's my favorite with a 2011 release date. I view it as a tragic drama.
Thor - Enjoyed, probably my favorite Marvel-produced superhero film.
Captain America - Enjoyed.

2011 movies that I haven't seen, but could care less about: Fast 5, X-Men: First Class, Green Lantern, Cowboys & Aliens, Rise of the Planet of The Apes, Final Destination 5, Conan the Barbarian, Apollo 18, Immortals, The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo.

I bought my first flat panel HD TV at Christmas, so maybe I'll check out some of these on the new screen.

I saw 20:

No Strings Attached
Drive Angry
Red Riding Hood
Sucker Punch
Insidious
Source Code
Super
Atlas Shrugged: Part I
Dylan Dog: Dead of Night
Thor
Bridesmaids
Priest
X-Men: First Class
Green Lantern
Captain America: The First Avenger
Attack the Block
Don't Be Afraid of the Dark
Straw Dogs
The Thing
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

(I live in a shitty market, so there are probably another 10 on that list that I would have seen if they had played anywhere near here)

Out of those, I'd have to say Source Code and Super, although Atlas Shrugged is by far the most interesting one on the list. I enjoyed the Straw Dogs and Dragon Tattoo remakes well enough. The other comics-based movies were okay. Troy Nixey's first feature would have been good as a DVD rental, but on the screen not so much. Overall, a pretty weak year.

Dang! No wonder you don't have time to hang out here!

So which one was the worst?

Worst? I'd go with "The Thing". And my wife & I usually go once a week. I counted at least a dozen on the list that she had seen without me.

Yeah, that was bloody horrible! I wasn't even expecting much (despite Carpenter's film being one of my favorite movies of all time), and it didn't even deliver on that.

Seen in theaters:

Source Code
Thor
Green Lantern
Captain America: The First Avenger
The Dirty Picture (Bollywood story of a 1980's film dancer who was sexier than most other Hindi performers, meaning that she's about midlevel MTV sexy to US eyes. Seen in a packed theater with a mostly Hindi-speaking audience, which was a lot of fun.)
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2
Rise of the Planet of the Apes
Hugo 3D
Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows
The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn

Seen at home:

X-Men: First Class
The Green Hornet

That was more movies than I had seen in many years. I pretty much enjoyed them all. I guess if I saw more movies, I would be more critical of them. I mean, I can still see the flaws of a movie, but i just don't mind them all that much. When I'm seeing just one movie a month, pretty pictures and a few laughs are enough. Even dumb dialogue and subpar story doesn't bother me as much as it would in a comic book.

This is based purely off what I've seen. There are others I've missed but would still like to watch, and others that were great but didn't make the final 5.

#5: X-men First Class: I avoided this for a long time and when I finally saw it, enjoyed it. Wins my personal award for Best Cameo of the Year.

#4: Hobo With a Shotgun: Complete nonsense, wildly over the top, cheap and terrible. More please.

#3: Super 8: A loving tribute to Spielberg before he was making crap with horses. Great fun.

#2: Winnie The Pooh: Hilarious, perfectly paced, loveable characters.

#1: Drive Angry: Absolutely my kind of movie. Worth watching for William Fitchner alone.
