Was this speech made before he was elected? If so, was it partly to address prejudice against a Catholic candidate? Worries that he, Kennedy, would be influenced by what the Vatican says?

Santorum said, in defense of his Kennedy speech remark, "To say that people of faith have no role in the public square?"

I didn't get that at all from Kennedy's speech.

I wonder if Santorum believes that theocracies, such as some of those in the middle east, are a good thing?

Then you'd think that Santorum would be appreciative of the efforts made by JFK to combat Catholic prejudice in the United States and make it possible for future Catholic candidates to have a chance at becoming President.

I don't think Rick Santorum is an especially perceptive man.
