To Clarify: I don't think Joe Lee or Hunter are pissing on Carlton.

To clarify: I am pissing on Carlton.

And again: you're welcome.

Carlton, I want you to go back through this thread and re-read every post that was either a) criticism, or b) question of concern, then I want you to attempt to answer each one with your best polish/interview w/o negative context or spite. That would be the first attempt at showing American artists you're able to work with them and address their needs. You're just as much a stranger on the internet as we are so think on that.

Everybody who works on failed TV pilots still get paid. Hell, there are people who make their living writing things that never get made (Sam Hamm, for one example).

I'm also puzzled by the "goddam Americans" line, as foreigners generally also expect to be paid. Usually far less than Americans, though, which is why there are so many of them being employed to draw comics these days, even at the indy level.

I blame the Internet. Just like Classmates and Facebook have ruined so many marriages, trolling for free work sites like DW have ruined the indy comics market. My suggestion would be to watch the American Splendor movie and get some idea of how to make real world acquaintances who can help you achieve what you can't alone.

Wow, there is quite a lot of great character model sheets there. A very cool resource. Some look like unedited, first generation color scans, with blue pencil lines and white-out, clearly visible even color markings and paper discoloration.

Did you collect/own any of them? Or are they all from online sources?

That is a lot of supersweet Alex Toth goodness, Joe. Do you have any idea what the grayish green shading is on some pages? Was he just using very rough water color paper? A dry household sponge with that color ink on it?

They are all from Carlton's page. I was hoping he could shed some light on those very questions.

There are a ton more Alex Toth model sheets there, these ones above just had those visible non-photo blue pencil lines, white-out and coloring, that made me think he might have collected them.

Yeah, they are clearly 'work sheets' by Toth with corrections and all the process showing. Surprisingly, most of them came up in a Google image search on Toth too.

I should just break down and get a book on Toth though, there's at least a few out there. Besides, who knows if Carlton is returning to this nest of Vipers?!!
