About ten minutes in so far.

Hawkeye is a fatass.

Shots taken from The Empire Strikes Back, Contact and Stargate.

Lots of unnecessary worm's-eye shots.

They're going to trust Hawkeye after this?

THX-1138 car chase in a tunnel.

A scene in Russian with no subtitles? Bizarre.

Now Hindi. Again, no subtitles.

Man, they just don't want to call this thing The Cosmic Cube.

"The Other Guy." Too cutesy.

They just called the Avengers "freaks." How odd.

"If you're in?" Fury's giving Cap an option?

Life Model Decoy. Okay, that was clever.

I would like to see Downey and Paltrow together in a non-super movie after this. Good chemistry.

Is Colson gay? That would be interesting.

The helicarrier design is kinda neat.

The strings keep playing after Loki attacks? Uh...

"Freedom of Choice is what you got... Freedom From Choice is what you want."

Is Iron Man blaring AC/DC music?

"There's only one God and I'm pretty sure he doesn't dress like that." Attempt at controversy.

Loki and Stark finally called it "The Cube."

Thor, Stark and Cap in a game of Rock-Paper-Scissors. Eh.

I wonder if they had to pay Natalie Portman.

"He's adopted." Biggest laugh so far and it was Thor's.

Okay I haven't been to that movie forum for a long time but last time I was, Byrne didn't allow any discussions of movies he doesn't like (personally I think it was his way of "punishing" the forum members who had the audacity to like the film after he declared it a bad one, but that's just me).

Has he lightened up on that "rule" or has he just not gotten around to shutting that particular discussion down?

Stark wearing a Black Sabbath T-shirt. This is becoming overkill now.

If you think that Magneto-prison could kill Loki, why not just do it?

They're doing the Spielberg omnipresent "tell me how to feel" score, but it has a more Lucas/Williams flavor.

Kudos to Hemsworth for growing his hair, but they still should have used extensions.

And he should have shaved.

Apparently there's something between Hawkeye and the Black Widow.

"Mewling Quim?" Oh, my.

Wasn't the helicarrier cloaked a few minutes ago?

CRAPPY CGI HULK SMASH!

This might be cool if the heroes stopped fighting each other and destroying their own ship.

Wow, these trick arrows are very... specific.

Hey, Loki finally did something bad.

CGI Iron Man is pretty much video game quality now.

Lamest inspirational speech ever. It's Tommy Lee Jones' "outmatched" speech from No Country.

Why did Thor have to walk to his hammer?

Harry Dean Stanton. Awesome.

Here comes the "I was evil before, but I'm feeling better now" scene...

Wow.

Sure, ok.

Call it whatever you want. smile

Can I ask why that distinction is significant?

JB has yet to see the film...therefore he cannot possibly be judging the film in & of itself. He has seen images & trailers & has decided, based only on those images & trailers, not to see the film.

You won't see him making any absolute statments to the effect that the entire film is "crap," but things like "costumes, casting, characterization, etc."

There will always be something for JB to dislike about adaptations of super-hero comic books. I don't recall JB refusing to see most of the latest Marvel Cinematic Universe films (I believe he said a LOT of positive things about the first Iron Man film).

Indeed. I recall he liked the visuals of the first Spider-Man film when the trailers first started appearing. However, the more & more he saw of the film (images, trailers, interviews with Sam Raimi & the organic web-shoooting) the more & more he seemed to dislike what he saw.

In the end, JB saw all 3 Tobey McGuire (SP?) Spider-Man films & didn't have too many positive things to say.

I believe he has, but I can't really recall anything negative up to this point.

There is zero chemistry between Hawkeye and Black Widow.

Cap is all blue from behind. Looks weird.

Cap calls a guy "son." That's awesome.

A "New Universe?" I wonder if that's a sly reference. If so, it's too sly.

An hour-forty in, the action finally starts.

Acura. The official car of The Avengers.

Is that supposed to be Oroboros?

Thor's armor is pretty useless.

Please don't riff on the Endor hoverbike scene.

The humor attempts are really falling flat now.

Why did the CGI henchmen tear off their faceplates?

Hulk punches Thor. That was... random.

Extended shot of Cap in a convex mirror. I'm guessing that's a reference to another movie.

Why are the faces of the council members in shadow?

Loki as ragdoll. That was funny.

Farmers Insurance. The official... oh, whatever.

They stole the denouement from Interceptor Force. The CGI, too.

Does anybody think Iron Man's not going to make it back? Anybody?

Ends with a Death Star bridge riff? With Fury as Vader? Weak. And maybe a little bit racist.

Lamest Stan cameo yet.

Thanos. Boo.

Is Thanos a skrull? And are there skrulls in the movie?
