There's some irony, man.

So, your ignorance extends to not knowing what the word "irony" means? Good to know.

Yes, because Allen knows that if Joss Whedon didn't direct The Avengers it would have been replaced in America's theaters with some of them French-type cinema things.

Thus proving your ignorance of the fallacies inherent in reductio ad absurdum. Ironic, that.

Before Spider-Man, Raimi directed The Evil Dead Trilogy, Crimewave, Darkman, The Quick and the Dead, A Simple Plan, For Love of the Game and The Gift. So, he was just a guy universally noted for his visual imagination who had previous experience with super-heroes and had proven he was capable of quality work in many different genres. But that's stuff people in the industry would care about, so I guess it doesn't mean anything to Allen.

Allen, nothing could ever be more absurd that your charmingly guileless contention that being a minimum wage store clerk who luckily got to shoot the shit with Sam Raimi and his assistant over a decade ago makes you an expert on the inner workings of Hollywood.

I'm fully aware of Raimi's pre-Spidey résumé, you douchebag. If you're trying to say that he was considered at the time to be in the same league as James Cameron, you are beyond ignorant.

And only an ignorant douchebag like you would get that I ever made that claim. I'm telling you what I've seen and my analysis of that. You're free to agree or disagree.

Did Whedon conceive the franchise mash-up, or was he hired afterwards?

Stan Lee, Jack Kirby (and Martin Goodman) conceived the franchise mash-up. The Avengers was the obvious step after they ran through the other main Marvel characters and had to start planning future movies. What does this have to do with your claim that Whedon was middle-level?

Quote:
Sony spent millions to get the rights to Spider-Man cleared to make the first movie, because they (mistakenly) thought James Cameron was still attached to it.

Which has nothing to do with Disney making the Avengers, so why are you bringing it up?

Quote:
What had Sam Raimi done at that point?]

As always, you bring up something completely irrelevant to avoid answering:

[quote]But apparently he told Marvel/Disney/Hollywood he was going to direct "The Avengers" and, being the middle-level player you insist he was, they handed over the keystone of the expensive franchise without hesitation.

What, exactly, does Raimi and Sony have to do with your insistence that Whedon was middle-level and had nothing to do with The Avengers until he saw someone else making a ton of money with Iron Man [which had Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury talking about "The Avengers Initiative" after the closing credits]?

I'm glad I bailed from the conversation before the name calling began. I'm very sensitive.
