And he knows that 'cause he once sold some comics to Sam Raimi!

Oh, and if Allen wants to rag on Whedon because there were a lot of elements that were mandated for inclusion in The Avengers, he might want to address how Whedon handled that so much more successfully than in either Iron Man II or Spider-Man III?

Which, of course, doesn't change the fact that Allen's basic allegation is crap. As I mentioned before, what other filmmaker would have taken the window dressing character of Black Widow from Iron Man II and made her so central to The Avengers?

I dunno why anyone would deny Joss Whedon his just due.

I don't care either way about Whedon -- never watched his Buffy television show or most of his other projects -- but I did check out his run on ASTONISHING X-MEN. And that was excellent. The man loves his superhero adventures, and he can tell a story.

As he showed again in "The Avengers."

That he hasn't proven himself to Allen's satisfaction, I think he'll be able to live with, assuming he ever hears the name Allen Montgomery for any reason.

I'd probably prefer Hunger Games over the Avengers, if I had to choose. There were charges of racism on Twitter when some readers failed to notice Nick Fury was black in the comics.

I'd prefer Battle Royale over the Hunger Games. Still, Avengers was a great film.

That was implicit because she didn't get her own movie. They could have easily reversed her and Hawkeye since the two were so closely connected, but which one would you rather see in a skintight outfit?

Neither.

I accept your apology.

I haven't seen Spider-Man III, but Iron Man II successfully eschewed expectations by replacing action sequences with character development. I guess that's what Whedon was attempting to replicate with the long, draggy parts in the Avengers.

Frank Miller, for sure.

Haha! Yeah. Take an existing puzzle, rearrange the pieces, cut the corners off the edges that don't fit together right, then call it a new puzzle. Excellent!
