I've had neither pain meds nor booze for 4 months.

Being completely sober really kind of sucks.

But in the movies they always try and make it seem like a state of new, clear, unfettered perception. The sky is bluer, the grass is greener, the birds are sing-ier, your farts are poop-ier.

I did just eat a Banana Cream Pie blizzard from DQ. That helped.

but the effects only last while you eat them .

But film a hot chick in a string bikini sitting on one and you've got a million dollar website!

I don't know how heavy you were into alcohol & pain meds, but if it was to the point of hangovers, sweats, lost productivity and social dysfunction, you are definitely making a good bargain with sobriety. It's not my business, but did you HAVE to quit? it was about time/ just a good idea? or a serious health issue?

I have had a lot of health issues, so being out of pain was a joy. I never drank much, but I realized, writing this, that I've been in pain and in the moment for a good long time without relief.

I have no addictions except to caffeine.

Chemical pain meds are universally prescribed because they actually work to some degree. Alternatives abound with everything from acupuncture to herbal, but I have no idea how effective any of them are. I just hope you can find some method for relief that works and isn't toxic in one way or another. Sorry for prying, but you know all the comiconners wish you well, better make that 98.5%, someone may have had a bad fish taco today and hates everybody.
