I just read today's LA Times, which has an obituary for Mr. Nakazawa, a survivor of the Hiroshima bombing who passed away on Dec. 19th of lung cancer at the age of 73. He created the Barefoot Gen series in the early 70's, which eventually covered 10 volumes and an incredible swath of mid 20th century history.

If you're unfamiliar with his work there have been a number of translations and I recommend it highly to anyone interested in the history of comics.

I know what Barefoot Gen is with the guy with that baseball cap.

Nah, that was Yogi Berra. He became a baseball player after he left Jellystone Park.
