Saints 13 - Panthers 17

Carolina (11-4) can wrap up the NFC South and a first-round bye in the playoffs with a win next Sunday at Atlanta.

Cam Newton came through when the game was on the line. That defense is going to be tuff in the playoffs. Carolina is my pick for this years Super Bowl. Carolina @ Seattle in the NFC Championship.

There goes my theory on black QB's huh.

The Panthers record vrs current playoff teams:

WEEK-1 vs Seattle L12-7
WEEK-5 @ Arizona L22-6...still in the hunt
WEEK-10 @ San Francisco W10-9
WEEK-11 vs New England W24-20
WEEK-14 @ New Orleans L31-13
WEEK-16 vs New Orleans W17-13

Cam Newton, Greg Hardy's four sacks help Panthers clinch NFC South title with win at Atlanta.

Carolina gets a first round bye in the playoffs. It is going be up to Cam Newton and the slow running offense to see how far Carolina goes into the playoffs.

The defense is great.

Carolina Panthers are early underdogs for Sunday's playoff game against the San Francisco 49ers.

Carolina (7-1) at home - San Fransico (6-2) on the road.
Head to head: Carolina leads (11-7)

This is going to be a good game. Carolina defeated San Fransico 10-9 in at Candlestick Park in WEEK-10.

49ers' Win Over Panthers

The 49ers held Newton in check, intercepting him twice and sacking him five times while stopping the Panthers (12-5) twice on the 1-yard line in the first half.

It's the second time since 2008 the Panthers lost at home in the divisional playoffs after winning the NFC South and claiming a first-round bye with the No. 2 seed. ... 49ers FB Will

Steve Smith done in Carolina

[quote]The agent for wide receiver Steve Smith says the five-time Pro Bowl selection has played his final snap for the Carolina Panthers

"Where we are disappointed is the fact he signed an extension to stay loyal to the club and complete his career as a Panther," Fox said. "That is why we did the long-term team deal. Now we are at a crossroads where the Panthers don't want him anymore."

Bye Steve!

Steve Smith does not fit in Carolina plans for the future. Its about getting younger players who can fit in with Cam Newton.

Bye Steve!

Its done! Steve Smith is no longer a Panther.
