Well ... if a villain turns out to be a Skrull, is that really a bad thing? I mean, sure we're shocked when one of our favorite colorful heroes turns out to be a green, powerful alien trying to take over the planet, but is it really that bad when an evil villain is a skrull? Is there truly a difference? Ah, well, on to today's Skrull ...

Don't think they'd manage to get Doom - he's too paranoid. I can't see a Skrull Doom being any match for the real thing - though it would be interesting to see...

Von Doom, Two Dooms, Three Dooms, etc

Maybe he's impersonating a Doombot?

Alan,

Maybe the next miniseries will have them turn out to be clones of King Kull... or the Red Skull... Old Skull... Irma Krull... [Smile]

Hmmm... Red... Green... Y'think that someone's been reading a certain title about a certain ring-slinger by a certain Geoff Johns?

Nahhh, with our luck, the pattern probably has something to do with traffic lights than the Green Lantern Corps. [Smile]

You think the Skrulls are controlling the traffic lights? Could be! Their deadly cunning knows no bounds... [Big Grin]

Why... the traffic lights might even BE Skrulls! (And the traffic wardens... that would explain a LOT! [Big Grin] )

Lovely Rita, Meter Maid... where would we be without you? Could it be that you or I are Skrulls?

Ahhh, RITA! [Eek!]

I guess the Beatles must have sounded very alien to people when they first appeared... Maybe that's Skrull music? If anyone can be a Skrull... Who knows, right? [Big Grin]

The music of the Skrulls! [Big Grin]

But seriously, does it matter if the Skrulls are taking over villains too? It's not like someone's going to go, "Oh my, you want to take over the world! I'm so surprised!"

Depends on the reason, Jen, honestly. If they can replace someone who leads other villains (The Red Skull, Apocalypse, Sinister etc) they can then use the villain's followers to create massive diversions or otherwise try to keep the heroes busy when their main invasion force arrives. If they could use the likes of Hydra and AIM to attack SHIELD at the right moment, they could create such confusion that their victory would be almost certain.

Replacing some loser like the Vulture, on the other hand, just wouldn't be worth their time.

From a strategic POV, they should be looking to replace leaders and use them to sow maximum confusion.

They also want to secure the nuclear arsenals as fast as possible to both stop them being used and provide a useful back-up plan if it all starts going wrong. Nuclear blackmail is unlikely to fail on most of the heroes, at least in the short term.

Right now their absolute top target has to be Stark, though, as he has an entire army of useful idiots under his absolute control who've had the resistance whipped out of them already after Civil War. If they get him, they have the planet.

I'd honestly put Doom second - not because of Doom himself, but because of his vast army of technologically advanced robots. If Doom went all out he could probably take the world - and at the very least he has the biggest and best spoiler force out there. A full-fledged Latverian invasion of Earth would take some stopping, even without the Skrulls.

Steve - I always think Doom would look better in a Skrull-cap! [Big Grin] He's normally the guy in green anyway, so I guess adding a bit MORE green to the mix won't hurt! [Big Grin]

In Von Doom's case, it ain't easy being green.

In the past, he's been green with envy about Reed Richards' genius.

Kermit's an amphibian, which means he can use both hands against Doomsie... or something like that [Smile]

You know, Doctor Doom being a Skrull might make sense... was his return after the "Authoritative Action" story in Fantastic Four ever explained?

"Fantastic Four"
To The Tune of "Satisfaction" By The Rolling Stones

I can't beat the
Fantastic Four

I can't beat the
Fantastic Four

'Cause I've tried
And I've tried
And I've tried
And I've tried

I can't beat the
I can't beat the

When they're flying in their car
And Ben Grimm talks on the radio
He's yelling me more and more
About some useless situation
Supposed to try my tiny nation

I can't beat the

No, no, no
Hate, hate, hate

That's not my way

I can't beat the
Fantastic Four

I can't beat the
Fantastic Four

'Cause I've tried
And I've tried
And I've tried
And I've tried

I can't beat the
I can't beat the

When I'm doing my good deed
And Reed Richards comes to tell me
How right my tests should be
But he can't be the man cause he's such a joke
The same sort of regrets as me

I can't beat the

No, no, no
Hate, hate, hate

That's not my way

I can't beat the
Fantastic Four

I can't beat the
Fantastic Four

'Cause I've tried
And I've tried
And I've tried
But I've tried

I can't beat the
I can't beat the

When I'm conquering the world
And I'm doing this and I'm feigning that
And I'm fighting the Invisible girl
Who tells me
Maybe I better come back
Maybe next week
'Cause I see you're on a losing streak

I can't beat the

No, no, no
Hate, hate, hate

That's not my way

I can't beat the
I can't beat the

I can't beat the
Fantastic Four

The Fantastic Four
The Fantastic Four
The Fantastic Four
