Where will you be getting your free comics on Free Comic Book Day? Which ones are you looking forward to the most? Creators, if you're signing somewhere, where can fans meet you? Stores, if you're doing something special, what have you got going on?
Remember to list your comic book store's location and address in case local readers are interested.

CAPE, the world's largest Free Comic Book Day event, is this weekend Saturday May 3rd at Craddock Park in Dallas, Texas. In addition to the important and cool people -- Mark Waid, Gail Simone, Robert Kirkman, Greg Pak, David Mack, Daniel Way, Scott Kurtz, Jim Mahfood, Dave Crosland, Joelle Jones, Jamie S. Rich, and Chynna Clugston -- I'm debuting my minicomic "Mine All Mine" with fierce indie-integrity fully intact. It's a collection of 16 one page vignettes, all written by me and illustrated by different artists. It's a minicomic about the varied ways people steal from others, covering everything from pickpocketing to e-mail scams to gentrification. Seems appropriate on a day when we give comics away for free. I'll be selling mine for $2, thank you very much.
The contributors... Samax Amen, Joshua Boulet, Ryan Cody, David DeGrand, Joe Eisma, Jake Ekiss, Derrick Fish, Michael Lagocki, Jim Lujan, Paul Milligan, Wes Molebash, Chad Sell, Cal Slayton, Justin Stewart, ZeeS, and Scott Zirkel.
Cover by Tania Kaufmann, darling of the local Dallas art scene
After CAPE, we'll have it available at select stores on May 14th and for sale online. For more information, you can visit my website antiherocomics.com

If my 5-year old didn't have a noon soccer game, I'd totally want to drive the 3 hours down to Dallas for CAPE.
Instead, after the game, he and I will head down to Norman to grab comics (and visit with Eisner-nominee Rob Vollmar) at Atomik Pop.Posts: 80 | From: Oklahoma City | Registered: May 2003

I have to work so I'm just stopping in at the comics shoppe in the Enfield Mall (entrance near Radio Shack located where the bookstore used to be) in Connecticut. I might go up to Modern Myths in Northampton,Mass as they close at 9PM.
I like both of those stores. The clerks have been helpful. Modern Myths has a used comics section, I can't believe I got a lieahalaloha Hitchhiker's Guide there.
My LCS doesn't do anything. I feel bad about going to the above. I've only shopped the Enfield store 3 times this year and Modern Myths just twice in two years.

Free Comic Book Day Founder Urges Fans to "Bring a friend"
CONCORD, CA – With Free Comic Book Day coming up close on May 3rd, the event's founder is urging every fan to make a difference by taking a non-comics reading friend to a participating Free Comic Book Day retailers near them. More than two million comics will be available for free at two thousand stores in the United States and 37 additional countries.
"There's such a delicious buffet of FREE comics available this Saturday for FCBD. I hope fans take this perfect opportunity to introduce their friends to the pleasures of comics' entertainment," said Joe Field, the owner of Flying Colors Comics in Concord, California and the founder of Free Comic Book Day. "FCBD is the closest thing we have to an official 'holiday' for comic books, so it would be great to have even more people get in on the fun."
To add to the festivities at Flying Colors, Field is releasing "Flying Colors 20th Anniversary Special Edition" – a comic book filled with new material by Ken Hooper (Star Trek, Aquaman), and J.B. Bonivert (Fun Boys, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), as well as newcomers Chris Mendoza and Adrian Rivero. The comic book also features a back cover painting by Daniel Brereton (Nocturnals), with interior sketches by Jim Lee, Grant Morrison and Terry Austin.
Artists Bonivert, Mendoza and Rivero will sign copies of "Flying Colors 20th Anniversary Special Edition" from 11am-3pm on Saturday May 3 during the Free Comic Book Day event. The first 500 attendees at Flying Colors Comics in Concord will receive the Flying Colors 20th Anniversary Special Edition for free.
"So many retailers make such a great effort with Free Comic Book Day," said Field. "I want to make sure that every fan gets the invitation to make it to a participating store near them." To find a participating store, go to http://FreeComicsBookDay.com and click on the store locator.

If you let a little Rain keep you from the Free Comic Book Day booty then you aren’t cool enough to be reading comic books. IT’S A RAIN OR SHINE EVENT! All the guests and all the cool things will be under tents or in the store. So, for at least a potion of the time you’ll be a cool thing, too.
What if it doesn’t rain? Are you kidding?
FREE COMIC BOOK DAY JETPACK CGC SIGNATURE SERIES EVENT – I think that Jetpack Comics may be the only ™ FCBD store in New England that has been authorized to have a CGC Signature series event. What’s that mean to you? Check out the CGC website and Ebay to get the gist of it. AS long as I witness the signature / sketch / doodle on the cover of the comic, and I take it directly from you and place it in my secret submission pouch (located beneath Al’s flabs of flesh). We send it in to CGC so your awesome comic can become a valuable item. Think about it. Not only can you get each and every one of our guests to sign copies of their comics for you (pick the ones in the best condition to ensure the highest grade) but where else are you going to get copies of the JETPACK COMICS EDITIONS of GUNPLAY #0 and our ATOMIC ROBO special and have them signed and sent for official Signature Series Grading at the same time? No where else man. It’s only happening at the JETPACK and only on Free Comic Book Day!
Rules? Yup, there have to be stinkin rules!
Ralph has to be present at the signing of each comic getting the CGCSST (C G C Signature Series Treatment). If RALPH does not see it it does not count – THAT IS THE CGC RULE! Visit with…Scott Wegener – Atomic Robo 9 am – 11 pm, Jorge Vega and Dominic Vivona 9 am (or was it 10 am) – 4 pm, Ed McGuinness – 1 pm – 4 pm, Rich Woodall 2 pm (or sooner) – 5 pm, Severed Head Presents team - 9 am until they hate us, The Fat Squad – from the time Fat Guys get up until they head out for a cardiac by-pass or an extra large order of fries. Okay – there will be people to sign your stuff all day! You can be New England’s May 3rd Signature Series King. You can get up to 3 items signed by each creator, for free. After that there is a $3.00 charge per signature per creator (come on – you know that in doing this you are trying to make a valuable collectible from this item and signature. The creator deserves to share in it.). We have FREE items for each creator/team to sign. Everyone gets one for free. After that you have to purchase them. We will have additional materials in the store as well. CGC Signature series submissions cost $30 each. That is the cost to send each item in and have it graded. That cost includes the grading service as well as the insurance and postage fees. Payment is required at the time they are turned over to us.
GRAVITYLAND LIVE BROADCAST FROM FREE COMIC BOOK DAY – John Herman’s Gravityland is a hit web success. No, it really is. John just came back from a speaking engagement in NYC about his web based series, came and broadcast from our convention this past week and is now heading up to Rochester again, for a Jetpack Comics Return for a FREE COMIC BOOK DAY live broadcast. If all goes well we’ll be broadcasting from 2 locations, live on the web all Free Comic Book Day long. It’s going to be one of the coolest parts of Free Comic Book Day fo sure. Everyone loves to be on TV. This just in…once again our friend John Herman is the man (can you be the man more than once?). Much like 24 hour comic day he entered a film in the 48 hour film project. Of course, since we only hang with talented people, John ruled the event. In addition to an Audience Choice Award, the film won Best Script, Best Ensemble, Best Costumes, and Best Actress. John was awarded (Boston's) Best Cinematographer. Go New Hampshire! John’s film also won won the award for Best Film. You best get into his Free Comic Book Day broadcast. You many never get the chance to work with him again! Visit www.gravityland.com on FCBD to see what you’re missing!
FREE COMIC BOOK DAY EASTER EGG – AS you wander about town keep your eyes open. We’ve got a couple of Free Comic Book Day surprises that we’re not going to tell you about. At then end of your Comic Book Hunt, if you’re successful, you’ll be asked a question. Answer the question successfully and there will be an extra bonus for you. Answer it wrong and we’ll have to send you to the negative zone!…sorry but them’s the rules!
FCBD VOLUNTEERS ALERT – WHO WERE YOU??? Okay, I know that some of you offered to come and help out for FCBD but who were you? Between New York Comic Con, our show in Portsmouth and organizing this event I have lost it all including my mind. Please email me or call to let me know if you’re going to be there to help. Volunteers can start arriving at 7:00 am (we’ve got 4 tents to put up).
FCBD HELP STILL NEEDED – Want to get some cool free stuff on Free Comic Book Day? We need help! Want to help us? Email us now! We need help. Every Volunteer is going to get a copy of HULK #1 with an AWESOME Hulk piece of original art on it, by ED MCGUINNESS as well as a number of other EMC pieces, Free Comic Books, Jetpack T-Shirts and more. Space is UNLIMITED so join us for some FCBD fun!

First you can get OUR preview copy of GUNPLAY and you get to have the artist and writer sign it. Then you can get a copy of our Atomic Robo. An all special cover just for you and of course, the artist will be on hand to sign it for you! This is all beyond the Free Comic Book Day things you can get at the store. Each of these carries one of the AWESOME Jetpack logos…a sure sign of extra special awesomeness! We’ve also got special Ed McGuinness items and even some Johnny Raygun stuff. The Fatsquad has a FCBD Jetpack Exclusive and Severed Head Presents will be supplying you free copies of their first issue (ask them why #2 came out before #1). Expect to find other unique things for the day as well! Don’t miss the JETPACK COMICS EXCLUSIVE SKETCH CARDS!
***** PLEASE Take a minute and forward this email to all your comic book, Star Wars, D&D, Magic, Toy Collecting, Novel Writing, Art Loving, and otherwise nerdy friends. This Saturday is going to be HUGE and there really is something FREE for everyone….until it’s all gone!

I miised it- worked until 6 and got a message that everybody had left the stores and was meeting up at my place at 7. they brought me one thing on my list- the Gyro Gearloose book. I didn't get the Little Housini book or Amelia Rules or the Sky-Dog Diner or even X-Men 2008 that I asked them to grab for me. X-men ws gone and the stores didn't get the small pressers.
So how was your day?
