Valiant Announces Bloodshot: Salvation Ahead Of ECCC As The Next In Their ICONS Series
by Staff
In advance of Emerald City Comicon 2017 (ECCC), which kicks off today in Seattle, Washington, Valiant has announced Bloodshot: Salvation #1 for September, the first issue in a new ongoing series in Valiant’s ICONS incentive which puts a major spotlight on key characters. The first to receive this status is X-O Manowar in this current March launch.
Written by Jeff Lemire (Bloodshot Reborn, Moon Knight), who has been the modern voice behind critically acclaimed work on Bloodshot already, and drawn by artists Lewis LaRosa (Bloodshot Reborn) & Mico Suayan
Valiant say:
A bloody and vengeful new era for Bloodshot begins this fall as Ray Garrison escapes his violent past to build the one thing he never thought he’d earn: a family. But when a hateful secret from his true love’s past threatens their fragile peace, Bloodshot will be forced to run headlong into a barrage of blood, bullets, and broken bones for a revenge-fueled assault that will have crushing consequences for those he holds most dear…
The story will be set in two timelines, one the present day (with art by LaRosa), and one in the future (with art by Suayan). There’s going to be a pretty big development as a major new character in the Valiant pantheon is introduced–Bloodshot’s daughter–Jessie.
She’s going to appear in the new series after an initial cameo in the Valiant: X-O Manowar FCBD Special which you’ll see on Free Comic Book Day in May.
Here’s a big preview of those FCBD pages:
The series marks the next great Valiant ICONS launch of 2017, arriving September 28th. Later in 2017, we’re going to see similar ICONS arrivals for Faith, Shadowman, and Harbinger Wars 2, Valiant says.
For more information on what’s coming up for Bloodshot: Salvation, you can catch up with writer Jeff Lemire, Valiant Editor-in-Chief Warren Simons, and Valiant CEO & Chief Creative Officer Dinesh Shamdasani at Seattle’s Emerald City Comicon for the VALIANT: THE ROAD TO HARBINGER WARS 2 panel presentation on Sunday, March 5th at 2:30 p.m. PT in room TCC301.
