The animated superhero Mighty Mouse from Terrytoons was a major part of my young life–in fact he was the first superhero I ever encountered, and I took to him right away. My stuffed Mighty Mouse doll had to have a seat at the dinner table, and if he ever went missing, the whole house would have be torn apart looking for the tiny hero.

Mighty Mouse made people not only believe that a mouse can fly, but that a little hero can pack a punch for justice. He’s coming to comic books for the first time in nearly 30 years, in a new series from Dynamite Entertainment, written by Solly Fisch, illustrated by Igor Lima, and featuring variant cover artwork for the first issue by art legends Alex Ross and Neal Adams. Now that’s a comic arrival worthy of the mouse of steel.

But what new adventures is the hero in for?
Dynamite say:
Imagine that the world’s greatest hero has been exiled to another dimension — an alien world, where not even the laws of physics work the way they should. The only person who even believes the hero exists is a young kid whom no one will listen to. And yet, the hero — who just happens to be a cartoon mouse — remains the shining light that this drab, cynical world needs to restore its color and life. Here comes Mighty Mouse to save the day in his most unexpected adventure yet… right here, in the real world!
This is actually the 75th anniversary year for Mighty Mouse, so it’s appropriate he’s coming back through comics to celebrate.
Writer Solly Fisch says:
When I was a kid, my sister and I used to get up early to watch Mighty Mouse cartoons on TV and, in those prehistoric pre-DVR, pre-streaming days, we’d tide ourselves over between shows by listening to our Mighty Mouse record (yes, on vinyl. I said it was prehistoric.) Decades later, I fell in love with the character all over again, thanks to Ralph Bakshi’s brilliantly insane Mighty Mouse TV series.
Mighty Mouse #1 appears in the April 2017 Previews catalog and will arrive in June.
