Valiant’s Road To Harbinger Wars Starts With A Graphic Content Warning Cover

 
Valiant have hinted previously that there’s a major hero’s death coming up in the Road to Harbinger Wars, which starts in issue #5 of Harbinger Renegade. In fact, this issue is the turning point that leads into Harbinger Wars for the publisher. They’ve released images and information explaining that at no extra cost to retailers or customers, they are going to be wrapping that issue in a special graphic content warning cover overlay.

They are using the overlay cover to warn about the “shocking on-panel death of a major Valiant hero as a “clearly marked warning label”, according to Valiant. Obviously, this spotlights the fact that this issue is not one for children, since it could be quite gruesome or upsetting, but of course, this also is a big reminder to fans that they should pick up the issue since this a major and significant moment in Valiant history, and a turning point in the Valiant Universe.
Written by Rafer Roberts (Plastic Farm) and drawn by Darick Robertson (The Boys, Transmetropolitan), Harbinger Renegade #5 is the first issue of an arc called “Massacre”, a four-part jumping-on point leading to 2018’s Harbinger Wars 2 crossover event. That event will also have big impact on the Valiant Universe. In this issue, however, we will see the “newer, deadlier H.A.R.D. Corps team” laying “siege to an American metropolis”, where one of the heroes will “pay the ultimate price”.
Here’s an official description for the events in this key issue:
Toyo Harada’s former protege – Alexander Solomon, a “psiot” with the ability to predict and analyze potential futures – has been waiting for this moment. With the Harbinger Renegades – Peter Stanchek, Faith, Kris Hathaway, and Torque – now reunited as a result of his covert manipulations, his ultimate gambit can now begin. But he’s not the only one who has been watching. Major Charlie Palmer has just re-assigned a new division of the militarized psiot hunters codenamed H.A.R.D. Corps to active duty…and they’re about to bring a torrent of blood and calamity roaring into the streets of a major American metropolis for an all-out firefight.
 
The Harbinger Renegades. Livewire. Alexander Solomon. Generation Zero. Toyo Harada. Secret Weapons. Imperium. None of them are safe…and, when the smoke clears, a pivotal Valiant hero will become the first sacrifice of the massive Harbinger War that is to come.
