Boom! Studios And Saban Launch Second Ongoing Power Rangers Series – Go Go Power Rangers

by Staff

Boom! Studios and Saban Brands  have announced a second ongoing Power Rangers comic series titled Saban’s Go Go Power Rangers, to debut in July 2017.
It is based on the original TV series “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers”, and will explore the transition of the original five Rangers from “ordinary high schoolers” to “world-saving superheroes”.

Ryan Parrott (Star Trek: Starfleet Academy) returns to write this series after working on the sold-out OGN Power Rangers: Aftershock and he’ll be teaming up with Russ Manning Award-winner Dan Mora (WWE, Klaus) on art.
Saban’s Go Go Power Rangers is going to be set after the first episode of the show, “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers” and focuses on Jason, Kimberly, Zack, Trini, and Billy as they deal with their high school lives and responsibilities immediately after receiving their powers.

Parrot says: “The goal of Saban’s Go Go Power Rangers is to focus on more personal, intimate character stories. We dive deeper to fully examine the wish-fulfilling, awesomeness of having superpowers, along with the pressure of that responsibility.”

Artist Dan Mora explains: “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers was the ultimate TV show. It had dinosaurs, cool heroes with amazing suits, and giant Zords. What’s not to like? I can’t wait for the moment to travel back in time and tell my younger self what I’m doing. I’m sure he will be proud of me!”

Since the original ongoing comic series sold over one million copies in its first year, it makes a lot of sense for Boom! Studios to debut a new series taking things in slightly different directions for fans. Saban’s Go Go Power Rangers arrives in July, right in time for summer reading.
