Joining A Mob Family Means Monstrous Transformation In The Weavers TPB, Out This Week From Boom

by Staff

This week, Boom! Studios has released the TPB of their series Weavers, written by Simon Spurrier (The Spire, X-Men: Legacy), illustrated by Dylan Burnett (Interceptor), with colors by Triona Farrell. It’s a series that might have flown under your radar initially, but has a creative combination of elements and art in its storytelling that sets it apart from many of the comics you’ll find out there in shops. It has a distinctive edge that will stay with you– taking you inside a world of mobsters with a monstrous heart far beyond mere cruelty.

At heart, Weavers is a mafia family drama that looks at the transformation people undergo when they have too much power. We follow perspective character Sid Thyme as he’s drawn into this group, and learns the secret of loyalty within the Weavers–a supernatural spider inside each member that gives them monstrous abilities.
These spiders also form an inescapable link to the family. But the gang attack that brought Sid in as a member has mysterious motives, and he starts to investigate–newly acquired powers and all, however is going against his crime family by doing so.
Weavers is a gangland mystery that is stylishly noir, with artwork by Burnett and Farrell that’s full of atmosphere and perfectly suited to the mob and mystery elements of the book.
Here’s an extended look at the interiors of the book, out this week:

Weavers TPB is currently in shops as of Wednesday, May 24th, 2017.
