Netflix’s ‘Black Mirror’ Goes Vinyl

by Olly MacNamee

Arguably the best episode of Charlie Brooker’s third series of Black Mirror, was the ‘San Junipero’ episode. A great script, great performances and a great score courtesy of Clint Mansell, who has made something of a name for himself in the area of film-scoring in recent decades, such as the music for films like Requiem for a Dream and more recently Ghost in The Shell.
Well, the good people of Invada Records here in the UK, who specialise in alternative music, film and TV scores repackaged as limited edition runs, have come up with a no-brainer and are releasing the soundtrack to ‘San Junipero’ on vinyl this July. You can grab your vinyl on picture disc, turqouise vinyl or a bundle pack from their site now.

Having already pre-ordered mine I can now safely share this with you, dear readers, although best of luck getting a copy in the USA as Invada Records is a small outfit (for now) working out of Bristol. However, if you are reading this in good old Blighty, then get over to their site before they sell out. You’ll also find the score for the episode ‘Men Against Fire’ too, by Geoff Barrow and Ben Salisbury, on ‘army green’ vinyl, or picture disc; the former artist also being one of the brains behind this canny indie record label.

The ‘Men Against Fire’ soundtrack is available now, while the ‘San Junipero’ soundtrack will be shipping July 14th from Invada Records. Happy listening.
