The Mouse, Stan Lee, And Star Wars Land? D23 Kicks Off With A Bang!

by Christine Marie Attardo

This weekend brings the always exciting event for fans of all things Disney, D23! Things kicked off this week with tons of fans heading to the Anaheim Convention Center. The mouse himself made an appearance right at the start of it all…

Comic superstar Stan Lee received a Disney Legend award…

…and we finally have a first look at Star Wars Land! In case you didn’t know already, Disney plans to open two Star Wars themed parks, one in Disneyland and one in Disney World. D23 shared some photos of the display that is currently housed in the convention center.
Take a look:

Here is what D23 had to say:

Walt Disney Parks and Resorts raised the curtain (literally) on a spectacularly detailed three-dimensional model of the new themed land—featuring the Millennium Falcon and a whole galaxy of new experiences—in its “A Galaxy of Stories” pavilion, a marquee display that occupies prime real estate in the center of the D23 Expo show floor.

So, what do fans have to say?

I couldn’t agree more. Being a huge fan of the Disney parks myself, I find that as the years pass, they improve things more and more. The experiences are getting more intense and more fan-driven.
While Star Wars already plays a part in both of the parks, this is going to make things so much better. It should be interesting to see what other news is unveiled as the D23 convention continues. Keep your eyes peeled for more news here on Comicon.com.
