‘You’ve Got A Friend In Me’ – Toy Story 4 Release Date Announced At D23
by Christine Marie Attardo
So while we all probably expected a Frozen 2 announcement at D23, I somehow completely forgot about another Toy Story movie being a possibility. The insanely popular franchise is officially continuing with a 4th installment. The D23 panel revealed that Josh Cooley will be full director and John Lasseter will stay on as a producer.
While there have been a few Toy Story shorts since Toy Story 3, a full length feature is sure to make a difference. The question is, how are they going to keep it fresh? When Andy handed the gang over to Bonnie, we all cried, don’t lie.
Is it possible to create that type of bond again? Will we simply get a similar retelling of the trilogy with a new lead character? I guess we won’t ever see Andy again…maybe a cameo?
So far the movies have covered the dangers of a new toy entering a comfortable environment, a toy being stolen, and toys being mistreated. What’s next? I say we all just go to Pizza Planet and think it over.
Don’t worry, we only have to wait two more years to find out! Toy Story 4 opens June 21, 2019. Now the wait for a teaser trailer begins…
