Writer/Top Cow President and COO Matt Hawkins (Think Tank) will be teaming up with writer/editor Ryan Cady (Magdalena) and digital art concept/production studio Studio Hive (American Legends) to bring the “free-to-play cooperative third-person shooter” into the world of comics. Warframe #1 will arrive this October from Image Comics/Top Cow Productions.
You may recall that Top Cow had initially created a one-shot set in the Warframe gaming world that was not published for the mass market–it seems that relationship has expanded to a full-blown comic series.
In the far future of this series, humanity’s descendants “scramble to survive in a galaxy rife with conflict”, picking through remnants of ancient technology for “long-forgotten secrets”. Only the Tenno, who are powerful warriors, are able to battle to “preserve peace and keep the technological masterpieces of the long-dead Orokin” out of the hands who would use them for harm.
Now, a “faction of enhanced Grineer soldiers”, under the leadership of Captain Vor, are searching the Earth for a hidden artifact. “Only a lone Tenno and a blinded girl can stop them…”, according to Top Cow.
Warframe #1 (Diamond code: AUG170601) hits comic book stores Wednesday, October 4th. The final order cutoff deadline for comics retailers is Monday, September 11th.
