Valiant’s ‘Bloodshot Salvation #1 Body Count Contest’ Tallies The Super Soldier’s Kills
by Hannah Means Shannon
Ahead of the arrival of issue #1 of Valiant’s next ICONS series spectacular, Bloodshot Salvation on September 20th, the publisher is running a “Body Count Contest” which will consist of “a back-issue scavenger hunt challenging readers to tabulate the number of kills that Valiant’s nanite-enhanced soldier has racked up since his bone-breaking return in 2012”. Wow, we are all betting that’s a very high number. So, basically, fans must count how many people or beings Bloodshot has killed in the past 5 years.
Fans need to dump out their longboxes and start hunting. When you have a number in mind, head to Twitter and post your guess by August 23rd.
The official tally will soon be revealed by Valiant in the “Bloodshot’s Body Count” bonus feature, available only in the Bloodshot Salvation #1 Rampage Redux Edition, which is a free comic only available inside the Bloodshot Salvation #1 Pre-Order Bundle landing on September 20th also.
Here are some more specific instructions on how to take part in the Body Count Contest:
1) Estimate your total of Bloodshot’s definitive on-panel kills between BLOODSHOT #1 (2012) and across all Valiant titles released by August 1st, 2017. Make as many guesses as you want, or scour through your back issues and collections for a more accurate number!
2) Post your estimate to the official Valiant Twitter account using the hashtag #BLOODSHOTBODYCOUNT between now and August 23rd, 2017.
3) Participants with the winning number will have their name printed in the BLOODSHOT SALVATION #1 RAMPAGE REDUX!
4) Valiant will randomly pick one participant with the winning number for the grand prize: A Bloodshot Salvation prize pack and BLOODSHOT SALVATION #1 GOLD EDITION!
5) Valiant will then randomly pick five other participants with the winning number for the second prize: A BLOODSHOT SALVATION #1 GOLD EDITION!
In Bloodshot Salvation, Bloodshot arrives for a “heart-wrenching mission”, written by Jeff Lemire, with art by Lewis LaRosa, and Mico Suayan in two timelines set, firstly, during Ray Garrison’s life with his partner Magic and infant daughter Jessie, and then life in the near future with Bloodshot missing and Magic and Jessie fleeing from a splinter group of Project Rising Spirit. What happened to Garrison? What will become of Magic and Jessie?
The first issue features covers by Kenneth Rocafort (The Ultimates), Monika Palosz (Divinity III: Stalinverse), Tomas Giorello (X-O Manowar), Ryan Bodenheim (The Dying & The Dead), Greg Smallwood (Moon Knight), and Dave Johnson (100 Bullets):
