The comic Riverdale, published by Archie Comics, can tide us over until the return of the CW TV show, diving into the extra information, backstories and intersections in the lives of the characters, and drawn in a style complementary to the show by Thomas Pitilli, with colors by Andre Szymanowicz, and letters by Janice Chiang. Writing by showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, as well as by Tessa Leigh Williams and Brian E. Paterson helps keep that relationship with the show balanced, too.
This week, issue #5 arrives, with main cover by Francesco Francavilla and variant cover by Matthew Dow Smith, and it poses some challenging questions! Riverdale High hot-shots Reggie Mantle and Josie McCoy are the focus of the issue, and we get a closer look at the minds of these two ambitious teens. Reggie is very focused on his own goals, and when he sets his romantic sights on the lead singer of the Pussycats, surely sparks will fly? Josie knows her own mind, too, and if she turns him down, how far will Reggie go to change her mind?
