24: Legacy’s Anna Diop To Play Starfire In DC’s Live Action Titans

by Erik Amaya

Another Titan has been revealed.
Deadline reports 24: Legacy‘s Anna Diop will play Koriand’r on Titans, the live action series based on DC Comics’ New Teen Titans. The site describes the character as a “no-nonsense, take-no-prisoners” warrior woman looking for her place on Earth. While the description is somewhat accurate, it suggests the character will be more serious than her popular Teen Titans cartoon persona. The younger and more peaceful version of Starfire became a wonderful comic foil an that series thanks to her relative command of English. That said, it is still possible for the Titans version of the character to still generate humor from her unfamiliarity with common expressions.
Diop joins Teagan Croft as the only other announced member of the team. Croft will play a teen-aged version of Starfire’s constant compatriot Raven. According to previous reports, Dick Grayson will lead the team of younger heroes, but has yet to be cast.
Titans was in development for quite awhile, nearly landing at TNT as Warner Bros. Television attempted to secure DC Comics based material on more networks. The cable channel passed, but the project became a part of a forthcoming digital initiative of DC branded content. Familiar names like Greg Berlanti, Akiva Goldsman, Geoff Johns, and Sarah Schechter are producing the series with Goldsman, Johns and Berlanti writing the pilot script. Schechter, a Flash veteran, will executive produce the show.
Titans is set for a 2018 debut.
