Amazon’s The Tick will be back February 23, 2018 according to Deadline. The final six episodes will presumably wrap up Arthur’s (Griffin Newman) conflict with The Terror (Jackie Earle Haley) and probably set up several more as his sister (Valorie Curry) makes her way into crime-fighting. Personally, I hope for more Danger Boat (Alan Tudyk). Even in a landlocked state, he’s a fine addition to the cast. Peter Serafinowicz stars as the titular character who aides Arthur become a hero and solve a decades old mystery. Well, he sort of helps, anyway.
The company also debuted a new clip (via Deadline) from the third season of The Man in The High Castle. It concerns multiverses, travelers and an idea from author Philip K. Dick’s proposed High Castle sequel which eventually blossomed into VALIS. I’ve been iffy on this show, but this scene is a direct hit to my mind’s eye.
Seriously, this scene sets up a pretty exciting idea for the series. In the book — and the few chapters of the sequel Dick wrote — the Nazis discover a neighboring reality where the US won the war. But that world is still markedly different from our own. Dick intended for the sequel to revolve around the Nazi attempt to penetrate that other reality, referred to as the “Neubauwelt” in the sample chapters, but became distracted when an alien satellite appeared to offer his protagonist solace. The alien entity would eventually preoccupy the author’s mind and give rise to the VALIS trilogy of books.
The Man in the High Castle is set to return in 2018.
