NYCC ’17: Catch Up With The Girl Who Handcuffed Houdini At The Show

by Hannah Means Shannon

Titan Comics has a new line of comics coming up that showcases crime stories, called Hard Case Crime. One of their first titles will be a “Prohibition-era mystery” that will keep you guessing.

Minky Woodcock, The Girl Who Handcuffed Houdini follows Ms. Woodcock, unappreciated at her father’s detective agency, who straps on her gumshoes in order to uncover a “magical mystery” involving the world-famous escape artist, Harry Houdini.  The story is written and illustrated by artist, author, director, and playwright, Cynthia von Buhler.
The book features covers by artist Robert McGinnis, who created movie posters for classic films such as the original James Bond movies and Breakfast at Tiffany’s,  and also covers by comics legend David Mack (Kabuki/Daredevil), as well as a photo cover featuring burlesque performer Pearls Daily.

While the first issue from Hard Case Crime/Titan Comics arrives in stores November 8, 2017, the book is also is available for order through links on the Minky Woodcock website.
However, you’re in luck if you’re at NYCC this week, since you can take part in an early celebration of the title.
Ashcan samples of the upcoming comic book series and Minky Woodock handcuff keychains will be given away all weekend at the Titan Comics booth and at David Mack’s Artist Alley table where he will have signed copies of his cover.
