Reid Scott Reportedly Set To Join Cast Of Sony’s Venom
by Erik Amaya
Reid Scott, a veteran of Veep, The Big C and other shows, may join the cast of Sony’s upcoming Spider-Man spinoff, Venom.
Variety reports the actor is in talks to appear in the film and is not yet confirmed. But if the deal goes through, he will join a cast which includes Tom Hardy as the title character, Riz Ahmed, Jenny Slate and Michelle Williams. According to earlier reports, Williams will play a New York District Attorney in the film. Jumanji‘s Scott Rosenberg and The Dark Tower‘s Jeff Pinkner are writing the script for director Ruben Fleischer of Zombieland fame.
The film will be separate from the current Marvel Cinematic Universe Spider-Man and may see Hardy’s character happen upon the alien symbiote under very different circumstances from those depicted in the pages of Spider-Man or Sony’s previous production, Spider-Man 3.
The project is not the only Spider-Man spinoff on Sony’s schedule. A Black Cat and Silver Sable film entitled Black and Silver is set for release on February 8th, 2019. While both projects are separate from the MCU, they may eventually cross over into each other.
Venom is due in theaters on October 5th, 2018.
