All Six Issues Of Black Are Now In One Volume Ahead Of New OGN In December

by Hannah Means Shannon

This week marks the arrival of a substantial tome of a trade collection from Black Mask Studios–the series Black collected for the first time. Written by Kwanza Osajyefo, designed by Tim Smith 3, with art by Jamal Igle, and covers by Khary Randolph, the series originated as a Kickstarter project, with the creators assuming that publishers might not be willing to take a chance on a book that confronted themes of racial distrust, violence, and much relevant to our times.
Black tells the story of a young black man, Kareem Jenkins, who is gunned down by cops in a case of mistaken identity, only for him to recover and realize he has super powers. But the truth is actually much bigger than that. He inhabits a world of elaborate secrecy–silencing the discovery that only black people have super powers. How will the world react as this truth is revealed?

We have a substantial preview for you here of Black, Vol. 1, which arrived in comic shops on November 1st, 2017:
Also look forward to the first original graphic novel set within the universe of Black, titled Black [AF] America’s Sweetheart, arriving December 3rd:
