Marvel’s Phoenix Resurrection Gets Connecting Variant Covers In 3D Art Style

The much-anticipated series Phoenix Resurrection will be arriving in January, and to celebrate the return of Jean Grey, Marvel are going to be releasing a series of connecting variant covers from Brazilian artist Victor Hugo.
He’s bring his own style of “3D art” to Jean Grey #11 and to issues #2 through #5 of Phoenix Resurrection, and each variant cover will form a “connecting portrait” of our lead character.
Hugo enthuses:

I see this project as a milestone in my life. I’m a 3D artist and even being a huge Marvel fan, I know that it’s definitely not common for publishers to request 3D illustrations for cover art, so not even in my coolest dreams did I think that someday I would be invited to do a Marvel comic book cover! The Phoenix Force is definitely the coolest thing about Jean, but what I really love about her is her evolution and changes through the years. It was an awesome experience being able to portray all the phases in a single artwork.

The portrait will focus on “key moments” in Grey’s life over time, according to Hugo.
