Riverdale To Refocus On High School When The Series Resumes

by Erik Amaya

While there are plenty of viewers out there unconvinced that Riverdale has truly revealed its Black Hood killer, executive producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa is maintaining the line that the mystery is over. In fact, he is doubling down by saying the show will return to Riverdale High when it resumes next month.
“There’s still going to be a pulpy noir crime element to the second half,” he tells Entertainment Weekly. “But there will be a resurgence of high school hijinks, and getting back to the roots of what Archie’s all about, which is the kids and the school.”
Nevermind that the current identity of the killer, Mr. Svenson, was a janitor at Riverdale High, of course.
As seen in a preview of upcoming episodes, Southside High will shut down, with Jughead (Cole Sprouse) returning to take classes with his friends while the rest of the Southside Serpents like Sweat Pea (Jordon Connor) and Toni Topaz (Vanessa Morgan) adjusting to school life under the watchful eye of Mr. Weatherbee (Peter Bryant). Though, it seems, Jughead may have the hardest time adjusting.
Hopefully, the damp squib that was the Black Hood reveal will get re-contextualized as the situation in the Southside continues to worsen and Jughead has fewer distractions from his writing.
Riverdale returns January 17th on The CW.
