Set to the music of Kendrick Lamar, The CW’s latest promo for the upcoming Black Lightning reveals more of the show and its initial premise. It also illustrates just how cool Black Lightning’s powers will look when he decides to return to being a superhero.
Despite walking away from that life, Jefferson Pierce (Cress Williams) takes up the mantle of Black Lightning once more when Tobias Whale (Marvin “Krondon” Jones III) and the 100 Gang create trouble in Pierce’s city. But Whale and Black Lightning have a history, so the thought that the presumed-dead hero may have been resurrected leaves Whale less than amused.
Joining Williams and Jones in the series are Christine Adams as Jefferson’s ex-wife Lynn — who is none too thrilled to hear Black Lightning is back — China Anne McClain and Nafessa Williams as his daughters Jennifer and Anissa Peirce, James Remar as Jefferson’s best friend Peter, and Damon Gupton as Inspector Henderson.
Black Lightning debuts January 16th on The CW.
