The Creators Of Squarriors Launch Webcomic Cigarettes & Carrot Juice

by Hannah Means Shannon

The same team that created the hit comic about squirrel warriors, Squarriors, are launching into new territory soon with a webcomic, titled Cigarettes & Carrot Juice.
Illustrator Ashley M. Witter (Squarriors, Doctor Aphra, Scorch, Interview with a Vampire) and writer Ash Maczko (Squarriors, Squarriors: The Card Game) describe the new webcomic as “The Lost Boys meets The Warriors meets Riverdale.”

Maczko says:

Over the last year, we have been developing an original project that our friends and fans can follow as they wait for the painfully slow release of the Squarriors comics. Cigarettes & Carrot Juice has an intentionally simplistic design that will allow Ashley and I to regularly release new content, even while we are on the road.

Maczko further explains that the webcomic will be a “completely independent project,” and therefore they will “have the benefit of delivering uncensored, unflinching, and unapologetic content that Team Ash fans want and deserve.”
Cigarettes & Carrot Juice releases Valentine’s Day (2/14/2018) on multiple publishing sites like Smack Jeeves and Tapas.
But what’s it all about?
Firstly, it’s set in 1980’s Santa Cruz, and follows a gang known as The Nowhere Girls as they defend their turf against other gangs, which just happen to be supernatural in nature, including vampires, witches, werewolves, zombies, and others. Meanwhile, there’s a dark curse on the boardwalk they are trying to break.
