This Is Us’ Ron Cephas Jones Reportedly In Talks To Become The Wizard Shazam

One key role yet not filled in New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. Pictures’ Shazam! is the Wizard Shazam himself. In fact, it is unclear if the wizard will even been called Shazam as name confusion continues to plague the original Captain Marvel.
But according to The Wrap, This is Us favorite Ron Cephas Jones is in talks to become the wizard who bestows the power of Shazam upon young Billy Batson (Asher Angel). If negotiations are successful, Jones will join Angel, Zachary Levi (who plays Billy in his hero form), Jack Dylan Grazer (as Freddy Freemore), Cooper Andrews, Mark Strong (as the villainous Dr. Sivana), and Grace Fulton.
Based on the Captain Marvel created by Bill Parker and C.C Beck in Whiz Comics #2, the film centers on Billy as he learns to use the wisdom of Solomon, the strength of Hercules, the stamina of Atlas, the power of Zeus, the courage of Achilles, and the speed of Mercury, while navigating a tough world as a foster child among many, many siblings. And that’s even before he encounters the deranged scientist Dr. Sivana.
