Seg-El Touches The Future In New Krypton Trailer
by Erik Amaya
Syfy has released a new trailer for the upcoming Krypton and it sets up Seg-El’s (Cameron Cuffe) plight rather effectively. Given one of Superman’s capes, he is told that he must save Krypton to ensure Kal-El existence. Simple enough, right?
Set two generations before the destruction of Superman’s homeworld, the series stars Cuffe as Seg-El, who faces an uphill battle to restore the disgraced House of El and calm unrest across the planet; which makes his new mission to ensure the planet’s survival that much harder. Along the way, he will face the threat of Brainiac (Blake Ritson) and receive some help from displaced Earther Adam Strange (Shaun Sipos). It represents the first live-action long form look at Kal-El’s planet of origin. In comics, Krypton has been the setting of two World of Krypton miniseries and famously hosted Starman Jack Knight during his adventures in time and space. Krypton has also been a major setting in two Superman films: 1978’s Superman and 2013’s Man of Steel.
On television, select scenes in programs like Supergirl, The Adventures of Superman and Superman: The Animated Series have taken place on Krypton, but the series will attempt to tell a completely original story without the benefit of any of the super-powered heroes born there.
Krypton debuts March 21st on Syfy.
