Bruno Bichir To Play Doom Patrol’s Chief On DC’s Titans

by Erik Amaya

Titans‘ first Doom Patrol member has been revealed.
Deadline reports that actor Bruno Bichir will play Dr. Niles Caulder, aka “The Chief,” on the upcoming DC streaming series. Created by Arnold Drake and Bruno Premiani just before the arrival of writer Bob Haney to the Doom Patrol concept, Caulder is the genius behind many of the team’s quality of life technologies. A paraplegic, Caulder formed the Doom Patrol with the belief that the odd could contribute to society.
That original team consisted of Robotman, The Negative Man, and Elasti-girl. Eventual member Beast Boy later joined the Teen Titans, creating a permanent connection between the two teams; even if the original Doom trio were dead at the time.
Titans stars Blue Lagoon: The Awakening‘s Brenton Thwaites as Dick Grayson, Batman’s original Robin, who must assemble of new team of young heroes. Anna Diop also stars as Starfire with Teagan Croft as Raven and Ryan Potter as Beast Boy. Alan Ritchson and Minka Kelly will also recur on the program as Hawk and Dove. Bichir’s role is also considered recurring, which means we may see more of the Doom Patrol as the series unfolds. Almost makes you wonder if they’ll try to introduce Danny the Street.
Titans is set to debut on the DC-branded streaming service later this year.
