A lot of toy and collectible news has been coming out from New York Toy Fair, which began this past weekend. One of the big names in the business, Hasbro, have plenty of exciting new product fans can expect in the future. Among their new products are several new action figures from the Star Wars franchise. Below is a summary of what’s expected to be released.
Even before the actual show, there was news of more additions to the Mighty Muggs line from starwars.com. These vinyl figures are expected to compete with Funko Pop! as they are similar in size and cuteness, however the Mighty Muggs exhibit more detail in their facial features and have a total of three different faces. Characters from the latest trilogy including Maz Kanata, Captain Phasma, and C-3PO are joining the collection.
In addition to the Solo: A Star Wars Story figures announced previously, we will be getting more Force Link 3.75‘’ figures such as Range Trooper, Stormtrooper (Mimban), Lando Calrissian and Kessel Guard, Han Solo and Chewbacca (Mimban), and The Last Jedi Entertainment Pack.
For all the collectors, we have more Black Series figures. Included with the other Solo figures reported will be Woody Harrelson’s character, Tobias Beckett. There will also be Vice Admiral Holdo, Princess Leia (Hoth) and a bunch of retailer exclusive figures. Commander Wolffe can be found at Disney Store/Barnes & Noble/GameStop, Stormtrooper (Mimban) will be at Walmart, Gamorrean Guard will be sold at Target, Zuckuss can be purchased at Toys-R-Us, and an Astromech 3-pack will be sold at Amazon.
Finally, Hasbro is bringing back their Vintage Collection, which will be 3.75’’ figures but with higher articulation and detail than the Force Link series. The first announced figures in this line will be Supreme Leader Snoke, Luke Skywalker (Jedi Master), and Walmart exclusive Rey (Island Journey) from the latest trilogy. From the new Solo movie will be Han Solo, Range Trooper, and another Walmart exclusive, Stormtrooper (Mimban). Finally, if you are a fan of the Marvel comics, Doctor Aphra will have her own figure.
In other big news, Hasbro has created a crowdfunding platform called HasLab. Their first product attempted to be funded will be Jabba’s Sail Barge for the Vintage Collection line. The playset costs $499.99 and will only be produced if they can receive 5,000 backers by April 3. The set will be the largest ever made reaching a length of approximately 4 ft and will include a Jabba the Hutt figure and a 64-page booklet on the behind the scenes design work.
