Humans’ Gemma Chan To Play Minn-Erva In Captain Marvel

When Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) learns of the Kree threat in Captain Marvel, she will also face Minn-Erva.
Deadline reports Humans veteran Gemma Chan will play the character in the upcoming Marvel Studios film. Created by Scott Edelman and Al Milgrom, Minn-Erva was a Kree genecist seeking out the aid of the exiled Mar-Vell on Earth. Well, “aid” is one way of putting it. She believed she and Mar-Vell would produce superior offspring and lead the Kree Empire to greater heights. Using similar powers to Mar-Vell and Carol, Minn-Erva would adopt the name Doctor Minerva and work with the likes of Captain Atlas and Kree scientist Mac-Ronn.
It remains to be seen how the character will be used in the film, but one imagines she will be someone Carol deals with as the Kree presence in the galaxy becomes known to her. Jude Law will also appear in the film as Mar-Vell, the first of Marvel’s Captain Marvel, as will Ben Mendelsohn as an as-of-yet unconfirmed antagonist. Samuel L. Jackson and DeWanda Wise also appear as Nick Fury and, according to reports, a third Captain Marvel named Monica Rambeau.
Captain Marvel is set for release on March 8th, 2019.
