Now that the totems are finally important to Legends of Tomorrow, let’s count them up. Damien Darhk has three — Fire, Water and Spirit — while the Legends have one: the Earth Totem. But if that numerical disadvantage isn’t enough, the Spirit Totem gives Amaya (Maisie Richardson-Sellers) her powers. Oh, also, Damien kidnapped Ray (Brandon Routh) after he felt bad about mortally wounding Nora (Courtney Ford). And so, as seen in this preview of next week’s episode, the search for Ray is also the quest for the Spirit Totem.
Ray is such a good guy, but it gets him into a lot of trouble. Consider the totally legitimate guilt he felt after shooting Nora despite the fact it was a clean kill. Or, had the potential to be a clean kill. It also proved the nano-bot gun worked and could have dealt with both of the Darhks if not for Ray’s need to be a hero. Which isn’t to say Ray was wrong in trying to save her, even if it meant he would be captured. It just seems Ray’ blind spot occurs when he tries to be the Atom instead of Ray Palmer.
But who knows, maybe that bond he forged with the younger Nora in 2018 will be helpful in getting him out of this jam.
