Tessa Thompson To Join New Men In Black Film Alongside Chris Hemsworth
by Erik Amaya
Get ready to see Tessa Thompson and Chris Hemsworth together again in a whole new way.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Creed and Annihilation actor will join her Thor: Ragnarok costar in Sony’s new take on its Men in Black film series.
The original three-issue Malibu comic book miniseries, written by Lowell Cunningham with Sandy Carruthers on art, the told the exploits of Agents Kay and Jay as they dealt with supernatural threats to the status quo. In a subsequent miniseries and a number of one-shots, an agent named Ecks learned the truth about the Men in Black and goes rogue with Jay and Kay on their trail. Besides the naming convention and the sleek suits, the series also introduced the neuralyzer; an important device in the film series directed by Barry Sonnenfeld.
If negotiations are successful, Thompson will play Hemsworth’s partner at the Men in Black office. Like Jurassic World, the new film will acknowledge the existence of the previous film series led by Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones, but begin a new adventure with the new lead characters. Previous reports also indicated the action will move to London instead of MiB‘s traditional New York setting.
Fate of the Furious director F. Gary Gray will direct the film, which is set for a June 14th, 2019 release date.
