Usagi Yojimbo Returns This Week For A New Arc And A New Jumping On Point
by Hannah Means Shannon
Dark Horse have released the next installment in Stan Sakai’s iconic series Usagi Yojimbo in the first of a seven part series called “The Hidden” that will be a great spot for new readers to jump onboard.
For those unfamiliar, Usagi has been a long-running (for almost 40 years!) treasure of the comics medium, both written and drawn by Sakai and telling the story of a rabbit Ronin.
The main character, Miyamoto Usagi’s, even appeared on Nickelodeon’s TMNT last summer and has been optioned for his own TV series.
In Usagi Yojimbo: The Hidden #1 we’ll find Usagi on his way to see Inspector Ishida, a friend who he’s already solved several mysteries with. Usagi and Ishida are “quickly pulled into a strange new case when they find two corpses mysteriously stripped of all identification—except for a talisman that leads to a startling discovery.”
Though this new arc is the perfect entry for new readers, The Hidden also continues where the previous series of Usagi Yojimbo left off, so dedicated readers can follow along.
Usagi Yojimbo: The Hidden #1 (of seven) arrived in shops this week on March 21, 2018, and is available tomorrow at your local comic shop .
