Take A Road Trip With Bebop And Rocksteady In New Miniseries

by James Ferguson

It’s safe to say anyone that grew up with the 1980’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon has a soft spot for Bebop and Rocksteady. The dysfunctional duo will take center stage in an upcoming weekly mini-series from IDW Publishing called Bebop & Rocksteady Hit the Road. Written and illustrated by Ben Bates and Dustin Weaver, the comic follows the pair as they head back to New York City and their powers begin to waver. They get into trouble as only they can.
This is not the first time Bates and Weaver have collaborated on a comic with these characters. They previously made Bebop & Rocksteady Destroy Everything which was a crazy ride of a book. This one looks just as fun.
Co-writer Ben Bates says:

I have a clear memory of playing with my Rocksteady and Bebop figures as a kid, studying all the details that were unique to each of them, what seem to define their individual personalities and overall thinking how cool as characters they were. It’s crazy to me that I still get to play with these guys as an adult; I hope it never stops! Turtles forever!

Dustin Weaver adds:

I feel so lucky that Ben and I have gotten to make a contribution to the TMNT universe with these B&R stories. Hit the Road is a natural continuation of what we did in Destroy Everything. It feels just as wild and fun. I kind of love these guys.

Senior Editor Bobby Curnow says:

Bebop and Rocksteady are possibly the most demented characters in the TMNT universe. Seeing their trail of utter carnage across the United States will be nothing but a pedal-to-the-metal blast. Underneath the chaos though, Ben and Dustin have found the unlikely heart—and friendship—that exists between the characters.

Bebop & Rocksteady Hit the Road will run weekly beginning on August 1st. Every Wednesday in August will feature a new issue. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles co-creator Kevin Eastman will provide variant covers for the series.
