Tyrion Lannister’s champion is read to join the DC film universe.
Variety reports actor Pedro Pascal is set to join the upcoming Wonder Woman sequel in a “key role.” The film reunites star Gal Gadot and director Patty Jenkins as they chart the next chapter in the Wonder Woman series. This time, she faces The Cheetah (Kristen Wiig). Other than the villain, plot details are being kept secret, but it is said the film will be set during the 1980s and feature a Cold War theme.
Pascal’s role is also a secret, but considering the possibility of a Cold War setting, he could be a spy for the West or the Soviets and get Diana into a lot of trouble.
The first Wonder Woman was a surprise to anyone who failed to grasp that the character has been appearing in comic books monthly for the past 75+ years. Jenkins direction and Gadot’s performance were praised while certain elements of the film’s third act were justly criticized. Gadot’s next appearance, Justice League, was not as well-received, with many wondering why the character they saw earlier that summer was so different when surrounded by the likes of Batman (Ben Affleck) and Aquaman (Jason Momoa).
Wonder Woman 2 is set for a November 1st, 2019 release.
