Talbot (Adrian Pasdar) is uniquely suited to deal with the alien scavengers allied with General Hale (Catherine Dent). In fact, he may indeed be the only person capable of saving the Earth from what’s about to occur. But as this preview of next week’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. indicates, Talbot’s mind may no longer be up to the task of being a savior.
In fact, it is surprising Talbot was such a good man up to this point. Even if he and Coulson (Clark Gregg) clashed all the time, he was open to reason. Unfortunately, it seems the combined toll of the Gravitonium and the Hydra conditioning had opened him to megalomania. And since he has the Gravitonium powers, he will be able to back up his wish to make everyone kneel before him.
Unless, of course, he gets caught up in the Avengers: Infinity War aftermath. A brief mention of things happening in New York between Daisy (Chloe Bennet) and the Candyman (Jake Busey) seems to put the S.H.I.E.L.D. storyline in alignment with Infinity War, but considering the film’s release date was scheduled well after ABC determined the broadcast pattern for S.H.I.E.L.D., it remains to be seen just how closely events will tie in.
But it would be funny if Talbot was undone by events he is unaware of and would never believe otherwise.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. airs Fridays on ABC.
