Supergirl Faces A Trinity Of Darkness In A Preview Of Next Week’s Show

by Erik Amaya

The Worldkillers are finally assembled and it seems Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) finally understands that some things cannot be reasoned with. But learning that lesson may cost Kara, and the planet, a lot as this preview of next week’s Supergirl reveals the coming of a Kryptonian darkness and an unscheduled eclipse. Will Kara be able to deal with the Wordlkillers with her power diminished?

Meanwhile, it seems like the show is taking empathy out of of Kara’s arsenal, which is an interesting challenge for the character. What will she do if she must destroy the WorldKillers utterly and what sorrow will that bring now that she knows Reign has been hiding in Sam (Odette Annable) all this time. Also, if it does come down to murder, killing Reign means she must also kill Sam. This is definitely the meat of the story we’ve been waiting for, but it remains to be seen if Sam can be saved.
I’m hoping there is a way to save her as Annable has been a great addition to the show as Sam. But at the same time, it seems like they’ve been setting up Alex (Chyler Leigh) as Ruby’s adoptive mother since their first scene together last October; which means Sam would have to be gone for good. But that tension of threats and characters is why Supergirl remains a pleasure to watch each week.
Supergirl airs Mondays on The CW.
