Kate Walsh To Join Umbrella Academy In Recurring Role

Former Private Practice star Kate Walsh will join Netflix’s Umbrella Academy adaptation in a recurring role, according to Deadline.
Based on the comic book by Gerard Way and Gabriel Ba, the series follows the lives of a dysfunctional family of superheroes. Though estranged for many years, they come together to solve the death of their father and discover the whereabouts of a long-missing sibling. They also confront a number of personal issues along the way. Ellen Page plays Vanya, the only member of the family lacking for super skills. Described as a “meek and insecure wallflower” in an earlier report, she struggles to find a place in a family of super geniuses, space-farers, vigilantes and the like. Tom Hopper, Emmy Raver-Lampman, David Castaneda, Robert Sheehan and Aidan Gallagher round out the family.
Walsh takes on the role of The Handler, Walsh will play The Handler, a charmer who uses her abilities to complete the goals of a mysterious, bureaucratic company.
Other recent additions to the cast include Cameron Britton, Colm Feore, Adam Godley, Ashley Madekwe, Mary J. Blige and John Magaro as Vanya’s love interest. The series is expected to debut within the next year.
